Clayton Storms Rotterdam as Littler Faces Hostile Reception

.Jonny Clayton strengthened his grip at the top of the Premier League Darts table with victory on Night 11 in Rotterdam, claiming his fourth nightly win of the campaign.

The Welshman now sits five points clear at the top of the table, putting himself in a commanding position as the competition approaches the final five weeks before the finals.

Comeback win in the final

Clayton’s night ended with an impressive comeback win over Luke Littler in the final. After falling 2–0 behind, he responded to level the contest before gradually taking control in the latter stages.

Despite Littler producing the higher average, 95.41 to Clayton’s 92.92, it was Clayton who delivered in the key moments. His composure on the doubles and ability to manage the game under pressure once again proved decisive, resulting in a 6-4 win over the world number 1.

The performance underlined Clayton’s consistency throughout this year’s competition, with his performances continuing to set the standard.

Littler met with boos in Rotterdam

The final capped off a night in which Littler had to contend with a hostile atmosphere. Littler was booed throughout the evening by the Rotterdam crowd, following his on-stage exchange with Gian van Veen during Night 9 in Manchester.

Despite the reception, Littler showed resilience to reach the final and continue his strong run in the competition.

Dutch duo fall short on home soil

It was a disappointing night for the Dutchmen, with both Michael van Gerwen and Gian Van Veen exiting at the quarter-final stage after 6-2 defeats.

Van Veen was the first to fall short, losing 6-2 against Luke Humphries, managing just 6 darts at double throughout the game. Van Gerwen followed, and despite averaging 97.97, he too struggled to convert opportunities. With just 5 darts at double, he suffered a similar 6-2 defeat to Clayton.

Both players struggled to build momentum despite strong home support.

Rock impresses but misses his chance

Josh Rock, currently bottom of the table, produced one of his most encouraging displays of the campaign. He began with a convincing 6–1 victory over Stephen Bunting before pushing Clayton all the way in the semi-finals.

In the semi-final, Rock averaged 96.05 compared to Clayton’s 87.96, but his finishing ultimately proved decisive. He converted just 5 of his 20 attempts at double (25%), compared to Clayton’s 6 from 10. Despite having double the number of chances to close out legs, Rock fell to a narrow 6–5 defeat, a result that will likely frustrate given his overall performance level.

Race for the play-off places intensifies

With Clayton now five points clear at the top and Luke Littler firmly in second, also holding a five-point cushion over third, the top two positions are beginning to look increasingly secure.

However, the battle for the remaining play-off places remains wide open. Gerwyn Price currently occupies third place on 19 points, with Michael van Gerwen just behind on 16.

Close behind them, Luke Humphries sits on 13 points and is still searching for his first nightly win, a disappointing campaign given his position as world number two. Gian van Veen remains in contention on 12 points, while Stephen Bunting, on 11, is still within touching distance of the top four.

With only a handful of nights remaining, the margins are tight and momentum will be crucial. While the top two appear to be pulling away, the fight for the final play-off spots is shaping up to be one of the defining storylines of the closing weeks.

Attention now turns to Night 12 in Liverpool.
